   No, newer Ubuntu will work just fine. My ThinkPad L530 is running 22.04   
   LTS and a HP Elitebook of the same year is running 23.04.   
      
   To OP I would suggest installing the stable LTS version 22.04 LTS   
      
      
   Now about the printer: Unfortunately *Canon* is one of the most   
   unfriendly Linux manufacturer out there and often most of their products   
   are Windows only. That said, sometime they do support Linux, but hide it   
   very well, especially in USA. You have to search Europe divisions and it
