   Is this the Lightning Calendar component in Thunderbird, I disabled   
   that. I forgot how...need to Google it. There is a setting "Show the   
   reminder dialog (X)" that you may want to uncheck. I use GNOME calendar   
   linked to my Google Calendar for management and notifications. The   
   notifications pop up in the top panel notification area and do not steal   
   focus of your cursor. I suggest this option. So this is an app not OS   
   issue.

   I think there use to be a delay setting which you could increase, but   
   that was with X11. Ubuntu like many distros are now using Wayland, so I   
   do not know where such a setting is, if it does...
