   Just happened again. It was a "do you want to upgrade lots of   
   programs you never use? It's no bother, honestly". I was typing   
   when the keyboard stopped responding for no apparent reason, and   
   was 7 or 8 chars in before I noticed. If it wants to talk to me,   
   fine, but it shouldn't grab my lapels for something trivial or   
   non-urgent. A news-style scrolling marquee would do it, and on a   
   window I can hide.

   Um, quite so. Having Windowed from 2 to 7 or so, I eventually   
   just stopped bothering.
