From: MikeE@ster.invalid              I have a LM 21 system that I am not using key management. It is also       configured to not require login at bootup, but is not in admin mode       unless I do so. I do NOT want a browser to save passwords. Seahorse was       installed by default at install.              I added/installed Chromium browser for the purpose of having a browser       whose 'default' or usual mode was with javascript disabled, and it was       performing fine at that role for a while.              'All of a sudden' (as they say when something changes) starting chromium       would 'take over' the system/screen with an alert 'authentication       required' + 'the login keyring did not get unlocked when you logged into       your computer' which 'of course' is based on the fact that I did not       login to the computer.              Searching on this problem brings up plenty of info. LM's default keyring       manager is Seahorse; I have very negative feelings about seahorse from       my experiences w/ wanting to use a good keyring manager and I found it       very disappointing. For that role I much prefer Kleopatra, but that is       another subject.              My question is; since I can't seem to solve the problem by configuring       both browsers Firefox and Chromium to not ask to save user/pass, will I       do any harm by removing/uninstalling seahorse altogether, and will doing       so solve my problem. Or do I have to stop using Chromium altogether (as       opposed to having to login as admin to use it)?              Seahorse shows sections for login keyrings and chrome and chromium       keyrings which I have removed, but that does not solve the problem either.              --       Mike Easter              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
