   Remember that user names come from /etc/passwd, and group names come   
   from /etc/group (and their respective extension mechanisms). The kernel   
   and the filesystem know nothing about these names, only the corresponding   
   user ID and group ID numbers.   
      
   If you get the wrong numbers assigned, it is possible to write a shell   
   command to do bulk changes of the wrong numbers to the right ones across   
   your entire filesystem.
