   I've found with my current Mint -- and actually, with any Mint version   
   I've used -- the NVIDIA driver dkms never seems to work.  I have to   
   install after rebooting to single-user mode, and skip the module load test:   
      
   # ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-575.64.03.run --skip-module-load   
      
   Then I can reboot or "telinit 5" and get lightdm.
