   Sorry to jump in again, but with Linux Mint, I think all you need   
   is to add the user to the sudo group -- the sudoers config is already   
   set up to give those in the sudo group root access via sudo.   
      
   $ sudo usermod -a -G sudo username   
      
   Where "username" is the name of the user to give access to.
