Fair enough, but it has not been clear to either myself or s|b. I was
wondering what the exact set up was and should have enquired with hind
   sight.

In my experience telling people that English is not your first/native
language goes a long way in the understanding of the communication.

   Agreed.

I would suggest that you needs to take the transmission to Mint (linux) off
into a separate place. Get/buy a spare and use it as a protype. Get it
running with the setup you envisage. Document your progress. Keep the
existing set up in place and running.

Once the protoype is working bring it into the fold, test run it in the real
world and check out for any glitches. How do the customers like it, what are
   the issues for them.

I read through this post thinking, now we have a better understanding of the
situation. Then the last sentence brought be up short. Somethings it is
better to stop rather than carry on.
