   Three important commands to learn:   
      
   $ man  # gives you the documentation of    
      
   $ whatis  # gives you the short description of    
      
   And most importantly, perhaps:   
      
   $ apropos  # shows you commands that contain  in the description   
      
   So if you want to find everything that mentions "directory":   
      
   $ apropos directory   
      
   You might want to use grep to limit the output:   
      
   $ apropos directory | grep '(1)'
