   If the code isn’t continually tested, it can get inadvertently broken by a   
   seemingly unrelated change elsewhere. Maybe it depends on internal APIs   
   which were reorganized to simplify support for new hardware, so somebody   
   has to make changes to the old code, and you can’t just cross your fingers   
   and hope it still works.
