In response to everyone that replied.
I used a hybrid of what I had been doing and ChatGPTs advice and successfully
compiled the TBS drivers for kernel 6.8.0-84-generic.

However when ran up MythTV Frontend it told me my schema was one level out and
worse it kept restarting every time I closed it. I only want to use it with my
remote backend. Both server and client are using MythTV version 35! This
   problem will be ongoing
   for a while.

I have my grub boot menu set to come up every boot (thank goodness). It goes
straight into Advanced with all the kernels listed. It
highlights "84" which is fine but when I select it as often as not it will
   drop into the grub
terminal which I have never found of much use.
If I just select the first option, the default kernel it goes into "87". I
will sort that problem out first.

Several reboots later I will get into 6.8.0-84-generic. Trying earlier kernels
I get either only one screen (of two) or no network access).

It reminds me of my Windows days. :(
