   There really is no "USER" in thunderbird itself, only accounts.   
      
   Menu-> accounts and settings   
   On the right, there are all the email / news / rss accounts.   
   Each has an "Account Name:" field.  It can be anything.  I use 'gmail' just so   
   any   
   screenshots I take don't show any personal info.
