   OK, I want to do a completely fresh install on a clean 22.2 Mint.   
   Usually I copy the .thunderbird - files to the new system but many times that   
   doesn't work perfect.   
   Thunderbird says : make sure the old and new versions are compatible, they do   
   not mention how or what to do   
   if it isn't.   
      
   So I started with my email, the window that opens when thunderbird is started   
   for the first time.   
   So far so good, next I wanted to add a newsserver (eternal-september),   
   following the account setting windows   
   and there is - as you said - no user name!   
   Eternal-september wants a user name.   
      
   When I go the the newsserver, I only get a couple of eternal-september groups,   
   nothing more.
