   I asked the developers about this when I was unable to upgrade a   
   relatives computer during COVID.  The base system is Debian so their   
   Long Term Support policy is mostly what matters and that is essentially   
   security patches for the base system plus whatever updates the various   
   package maintainers issue.  Firefox and things like that should continue   
   to get security updates for quite some time.  The Debian states LTS is   
   an "as-able" kind of thing; if they can spare the developers and $$   
   they'll do it.
