   CMR drives cost more to maufacture so to get the competitive edge they   
   produce SMR.   
      
   NAS drives require CMR as SMR drives perform poorly.   
      
   So buy a HDD for a NAS and it will probably be CMR. Of course due dilegence   
   is worth your time.
