   Did you try to mount it manually? The command is (as root)   
      
   mount /dev/sdv1 /media/cdrom   
      
   If it mounts, then it is an automount problem. Try then   
      
   umount /media/cdrom   
      
   unplug the usb drive, and plug it again... it should automount. If this   
   does not work, then I am out of clues...
