Perhaps things have       changed, but this Compaq (2007) and my parents' Compaq (2011) didn't       come with any discs at all, which I gather is unfortunately the       usual practice. Both came with turnkey Windows, plus a recovery       partition on the same HD, plus a program to let the user make /one/       set of recovery discs. Both recovery methods restore the original       configuration, shovelware and all, although I'm not sure whether       they insist on the original partition sizes.              > This new system is a pain obviously and is intended to keep       > us from doing what we are used to doing with Linux and Windows. At least now I       have a better idea of what to expect. BTW I originally replied in       the "UEFI" thread you started, and hoped discussion of that would       continue there. I'm not sure how to move this discussion back       there, though.              Adam       --       Registered Linux User #536473              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
