Well, they will be until KMail s given something to put into them!

And here on Mandriva-2010.2, it's 1.13.5, but Mageia-2 (and other
distro's) seem to give KMail the same number as the KDE version.

In Mandriva 2011, the simplest way of doing a test import of emails
into an empty KMail would be (assuming your existing /home/buckeroo is
   mounted on, say, /oldhome):

   rsync -avx /oldhome/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail /home/buckeroo

which will create a copy in ~/mail.

Then go into KMail/Settings/Configure KMail/Accounts, select 'Local
Folders', Edit, and change the mail path to '/home/buckeroo/mail'.

Back into top window (which should now show your old folder
structure) and click on 'Inbox', which will start KMail indexing all
your Inbox email. Then 'Sent-mail', etc.

To control the layout of the message list, R.click on a folder, and
   select the 'View' tab'.
