   off without asking you first.  After all, these are public posts, not   
   private emails, and I didn't see anything embarrassing or personal in

   That's fine with me -- that's why I'm keeping it as one very long   
   thread, so it's easier for anyone to killfile (rather than killfiling   
   me!).  I'm also trying to keep it at least somewhat on technology, in   
   hopes others will find at least parts of it interesting and worth   
   replying to.   
      
   BTW did you notice that the subject of security came up in /this/ thread   
   because of the "Get your non-UEFI hardware while you can" thread you   
   started?  That persuaded me to buy a new system sooner rather than   
   later, which means my current (desktop) system will be moved to the   
   other room and connected via Wi-Fi which I'm not very familiar with.   
   But that's in the new thread. ;-)
