I don't see anyone else besides BT involved in this thread,
unfortunately. I hope it's not because my name is on it.

So then they don't make /any/ difference? I'm postulating a
hypothetical "security function" and anything that brings the result
closer to (the unachievable) 100% seems worth considering.

I assume that my having 100+ apartments within 500' (150m), some using
Wi-Fi, is a factor for me. Speaking of channels -- I gather that
there's overlap and I shouldn't use a channel adjacent to one my
neighbors are using. Right now I'm using channel 9 (of the 11 allowed
in the U.S.) as I gather channels 1, 6, and 11 are the most used ones.
Also, what about having my 2.4 GHz cordless phone's base near the
   wireless router?

Definitely something for me to think about, in addition to the aide.conf
file. I know that for system (and security) setup, a little planning
beforehand saves a lot of time later on. That's why I started this
thread (and online searching) before setting up "eris" using Wi-Fi.
