Thanks for noticing that, Dave! My approach to configuring these has
been "start with sensible values, and if that doesn't work. try changing
   things until it does." :-)

Let's see... my printer (just reconfigured a few days ago) reports
   	IP Address: 192.168.1.33
   	Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.192
   	Def. Gateway: 192.168.1.13
   	Syslog Server: 192.168.1.13
(that last one was a total guess on my part when I entered it).

The router (configured a while back) has these entries (all changeable)
on its "Private LAN Configuration" screen:
Private LAN DHCP Server Enable is checked
   	Private Lan Enable is checked
   	Modem IP Address is 192.168.1.13
   	Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.192
and then for "Private LAN DHCP Settings" it has:
   	DHCP Start Address is 192.168.1.16
   	DHCP End Address is 192.168.1.47
DHCP Lease Time is exactly one day.

So both (like both computers) report a netmask of 255.255.255.192
   (that's 255.255.255.0/27, right? or is it 255.255.255.255/27?). I
forget why I gave the DHCP start and end addresses those values (maybe
to avoid clobbering the broadcast address), but a few days ago when I
didn't have static IPs for the computers set up yet, it was handing out
IP address starting at 192.168.1.47 and descending from there. I do
remember choosing a netmask of 255.255.255.192 because this is only a
small home LAN with only a few things on its network. So... what did I
do wrong, and where? What would you recommend changing?

Thanks again for taking the time to look through my post! As part of
configuring my new system, I copied over the
/etc/pm/sleep.d/50-lm_sensors that you'd written about two years ago.
Oh... and Happy Canada Day to you!
