I hadn't thought of that one. I read that Li-ion batteries, unlike
NiCd/NiMH, should /not/ be allowed to discharge completely if possible.
I suppose the rechargeable batteries in my MP3 players are just NiMH
   or something similar.

And I suppose those USB WiFi thingies would work too.

When I was in the hospital for my transplant, they were able to lend me
what I gather was a "tablet PC" for a few hours, apologizing for not
being able to find an available "real" laptop. Using the stylus to
touch the "keyboard" displayed on its screen was a real pain, but it was
better than nothing. The very few times I've used a laptop was when
someone who had one asked me for help.

I think I'll wait on acquiring a laptop, unless an opportunity presents
   itself, such as Freecycle.

I made it through college using a WP program that was about 10 KB.

I just tried it, and I agree. I've been using 'evince' or 'okular' for
   PDFs.
