   Hardware problems?
   How did she reboot?
Get out a disk of say Mandriva One and see if that boots. Mount the
/ partition from the hard disk somewhere and reinstall grub. and then
see what happens. (I do not know grub well so cannot really help there)
What happens before the grub: Is there a list of possible boot options?
If not when you moutned the disk / look to see if /boot/grub exists
(that is in Mandriva One, do
   mkdir /harddisk
   mount /dev/sda1 /harddisk,
where /dev/sda1 is the partition containing your / partition on the hard
drive-- change the name as appropriate.
Then look in /harddisk/boot/grub and see if it exists, is readable, etc.
