   I've been trying "diff -r" between the settings that worked for Mandriva   
   2010.0 (copied to /mnt/download/migrate/etc) and the current settings.   
   Lots of output, but there may be a clue in there.

   "NETWORKING=no" in /etc/sysconfig/network usually seems to keep Mageia   
   from changing /etc/hosts, although at one point Mageia had changed that   
   back to "=yes"! If I'm going to pursue this, I'll take it to a Mageia   
   group, as it's a Mageia-specific problem. There are now enough small   
   differences between Mandriva 2011.0 and Mageia 2 to trip me up.   
   Sometimes large differences are easier to deal with. :-)
