For such simple things as a faulty CPU and RAM,       this can easily be ascertained, and some shops are very liberal in       replacing failing components at customer face value. However, certain       businesses do require that the component be tested first, and depending       on how they test it (and what with), they may or may not hit the bug       that you found under GNU/Linux.              Trust me, I've been there and done that. I was already referring       earlier on - in reply to Adam - to a machine I once owned, which was       horribly flawed in every way, and even though I had had that company       build that machine specifically for use with GNU/Linux - which they       wouldn't touch with a pole - they insisted on testing it under Windows,       and when I complained to them about the flaws of the machine, they       blamed it all on GNU/Linux and claimed that - and I quote - "everything       worked PERFECTLY under Windows".              The whole situation quickly got out of hand and resulted in an e-mail       flame fest - the flaming being done by them - and I have been on the       edge of taking the case to court a few times.              It's a long story, which I have already told a few times here or       elsewhere, so I'm trying not to get into all the details again right       here and right now. ;-)              --       = Aragorn =       (registered GNU/Linux user #223157)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
