"svm" is there, about 3/4 of the way through, between       > cmp_legacy and extapic.              I noticed, but by the way, if it hadn't been present, then you wouldn't       have gotten any output, so that in itself is also a proper indicator.              For the pedants, yes, I know that you need to specify a regexp as the       search string for grep so as to exclude other occurrences of the       character sequence "svm". :p              >> See my reply to Dave Hodgins. ;-)       >       > Thanks! That would explain why the important flag was either 'vmx' OR       > 'svm'. OTOH it doesn't explain why my system has the svm flag but       > VBox gives an error when trying to install a 64-bit guest OS.              I'm guessing that it must be a bug in your copy of VirtualBox. Perhaps       it is looking only for the Intel virtualization technology. It has come       to my attention that AMD is often ignored by software developers,       despite that AMD's specifications are open and have been shared with the       FLOSS operating system and hypervisor developers.              --       = Aragorn =       (registered GNU/Linux user #223157)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
