   But /shouldn't/ that be returned only by the highest-level DNS?  Just   
   because my DNS (or any intermediate one) has no record of it doesn't   
   mean the domain doesn't exist.   
      
   Anyway, using Verizon's DNS, valid hosts were OK, but:   
      
   [adam@eris ~]$ ping kjtroi.com   
   ping: unknown host kjtroi.com   
   [adam@eris ~]$   
      
   so from that I conclude that Verizon's DNSs are NOT redirecting traffic.   
     It took me a while to find a nonexistent host, though, as many   
   random-looking domain names got redirected to somewhere else.  I suppose   
   that's intentional by the owners of those domain names and not the   
   "fault" of any DNS.
