   But then that would rule out such well-liked distros as Debian with its   
   slow release cycle and Arch with its "rolling releases".  I /am/   
   sticking to distros that are still actively developed.  I don't even   
   have any formal evaluation criteria yet, and may never.  The whole thing   
   is mainly a "fun project" for a geek.

   I'm sure the gap will continue widening.  Mandriva itself started as a   
   fork of Red Hat.  OTOH as you may have noticed in another thread here, I   
   just solved a problem I was having with Mandriva 2011.0 because it had   
   been reported and fixed as a Mageia 2 bug.
