Is that a full-size tower, like "eris" (bottom-end 2007 Compaq)? It
looks like high-end desktops have about six expansion slots. "stolid"
(low-end 2012 HP desktop) also has four slots, but all PCIe. The PCI
Wi-Fi card was actually bought (on eBay for maybe $15) for "retread", a
compact 2001 Gateway (since scrapped) with only two half-height
("slimline") PCI slots and a few USB 1.1 ports, and I figured there was
no point getting a USB wireless adapter when there was only USB 1.1.

If I /really/ need another PCI slot on eris, I may do the same as it has
USB 2.0. Right now I'm not using any expansion cards with stolid, but
I'm using two of their openings on the rear panel for external
connectors for unused ports on the motherboard, one USB 2.0, one eSATA.
