   I've found that sometimes using the install DVD to do an "upgrade" to   
   the same version fixes boot problems without clobbering anything that's   
   already installed.  (I can't promise anything, though!)  I also agree   
   with the others that as soon as you have the time, you should replace   
   Mandriva 2009 with something newer, such as 2011.
