Adobe is dropping Linux support because they can't make any money at it.
We Linux people don't like paying for stuff.

New Flash Player development for Linux has been transferred to Google
Chrome. (Not Chromium, Chrome.) As I understand it, any new developments
will be released as part of Chrome updates, but I'm not really in the
   loop there.

There are a couple of open source alternatives, but from what I've read
neither is anywhere near as good as Adobe's current Linux offering.

Adobe will continue to provide security updates to Flash Player 11.2
until early 2017. After that, you can continue to use whatever the last
release is until it no longer works, if you want. Or, you can install
Google Chrome and use that for YouTube, etc. Or even change to a
different OS, if you're that desperate for Flash support.

Speculation is that by 2017, most sites will switch to html5 for the
things they now use Flash for. Other speculation is that Mozilla will be
"forced" to start to support the "Pepper" interface used by Google's
Chrome, and so will support whatever the new Flash Player is at that time.

I'm not going to do my own speculation, because I'm pretty much clueless
in this area. I'm just going to watch, and wait, and try to adapt to the
situation as it develops. IMO, That's about all most of us *can* do.
