Had an odd one go by here in late October. It was a very foggy day, all
day, but I had outdoor work to do anyway. I was near the road when I
looked up and saw a vehicle shaped like a hunting boot appear out of the
fog, go by, and disappear into the mist again. Made me blink several
times and question my wakefulness. I learned later it was touring the
country, promoting the 100th anniversary of L.L. Bean, and had been to
   Colgate University the day before.
