   Nobody with older ati/radeon is going to be happy when they pushed   
   onto a newer kernel release regardless of Distribution.   
   New radeon card I bought Dec 2011 no longer supported by ATI/Radeon.   
      
   That means open source driver and 1970 performance/features.  :(
