After investigating a few systemctl       isolate and start commands, I started the tar process in single user mode.              A fairly disasterous outcome, I'm sorry to say. The tar process started       to throw "insufficient space" and "can't perform mkdir" messages. I       can't find any reference to tar using temporary files, and in single       user mode, I couldn't see any obvious temp files.       I deleted a few MBs from /tmp and restarted; now I get to the graphical       login screen but my password isn't recognised (nor can I log in as       postgres, which has no password). So I'm about to boot from a Live Disk       to see what I can see.       Later: It appears that /newusr wasn't mounted, which accounts for the       lack of space - oops!              --       Grimble       Registered Linux User #450547       Running KDE 4.6.5 on 2.6.39.4-5.1-desktop kernel.       Mandriva Linux release 2011.0 (Official) for x86_64              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
