When my ISP dropped their news servers, I switched to eternal-september
(like you) for text NGs, and have rarely had problems. I use Teranews
for reading old NG posts (their retention is longer than e-s) but then
those posts are so old it would be pointless to reply to them.

Which of course is expected to be the day of the big snowstorm, but I'll
   be there.

I'm not actually sure what the best term would be; I'd guess something
with "immunosuppressant" would be best. ("With your immunosuppressants,
....") [Background for those who don't know: I had a kidney transplant
in 2009. The antirejection (immunosuppresive) meds I'm on keep my body
from attacking what had originally been somebody else's kidney.
Unfortunately these also reduce the ability of my body from attacking
things I /really/ don't want, such as this infection, whatever illness
is going around, minor cuts, etc. Anyone with questions is welcome to
ask me directly at the address in my sig here.]
