   At lunchtime here, the TVs in the cafeteria are showing the weather   
   channel and the radar sequence they're showing is centered on New   
   Haven. The precip seems to be just off Long Island to the South.

   That's generally true of most "local" news-readers. They're not paid   
   to think - only to "look pretty and speak clearly and without   
   hesitation while reading random text".  The real blame goes to the   
   idiots who write the nonsense - ALSO without thinking or checking   
   facts,     Story reported here this morning was about someone's   
   laptop catching fire - and it was explained that it was a battery   
   problem "identical to that which grounded the Boeing 787s world-wide."
