On the alt.os.linux.mageia forum, TJ recently posted a new topic,
Replacing a wireless driver module. You might take a look at
that, and follow any responses it gets. Dealing with a dongle
   seems to be treacherous.

I vaguely remember posts on dongle problems in Australia a few
years ago. That may have been you, of course, but if not try
   http://groups.google.com/advanced_search?q=& and search
alt.os.linux.mandriva for dongle and wireless for maybe 2005 to
the present. If no hits, try 2000 to 2005.

WRT your sister's router, I do not know about Australian
cable companies, but in the U.S. their residential routers
generally have four ethernet ports plus the wireless capability.
You may have to carry your own ethernet cable to connect to it,
though, if your syster uses only wireless.

   Cheers!
