Perhaps the mobile phone's email software stores messages in some place
that isn't accessible to the user except via the email software. Does the
mobile phone's email software include a tool to save attachments to
   somewhere that is user accessible?

Perhaps if yoou mentioned the make and model of mobile phone, and the name
of the email "app" concerned if it's a smartphone, someone may be able to
   suggest a more specific approach.
