Update on my struggles with wireless and Mageia 2: Still testing, but I
seem to have solved my connectivity problem by blacklisting the driver
supplied with the kernel and installing the latest driver from Realtek.
My problem was similar in that connections were inconsistent and of
varying quality, and after the latest kernel update, non-existent. So
far, with the Realtek-supplied driver and drakx tools there are no
problems and connection strength/quality is always reported as 100% -
which is what it should be at this distance from the router.

   A thought - my aging HP's both use #56(black), 57(color), and 58(photo)
carts. I don't use the photo cart, but I refill the others myself, with
good results with the black and sometimes mixed with color(if I wait
until the cart is empty to refill) But beyond that, I have had good luck
finding genuine carts, still sealed in the HP packaging, on eBay at
lower prices than retail. These carts are usually beyond the "use by"
date and have been pulled from shelves, but in my experience are still
good for years. I used to buy carts from various refillers with good
results at first, but in later years (I'd guess as the carts were
   refilled several times)not so much.

There are two Elmer's, a white and a yellow. Since he said "white glue,"
I'd assume he meant the white one... ;^)

Classic white glue doesn't hold particularly well if moisture is a
problem, even after it is fully set. Over time the moisture will
   dissolve it.
