I'm getting interested in this, as the SO needs a new PC.
I've found a UK supplier who will sell PC without operating system.

It has an 'AMI EFI BIOS', which they said did not have UEFI.
(Anyone here know any better?! )

Even if it had, from all (well, most) accounts there appears to be little
problem disabling Secure Boot or even opting for 'Legacy BIOS' (as I did
   with the Samsung NC110 netbook).

I don't yet know if it has a GPT. Is it still the case that legacy GRUB
cannot handle GPT, or was that a false alarm?
