Personally I have always liked these stats - I was already around back
when Garry Knight first started posting them here - and I have also
always regretted that not every newsgroup has them. I have already seen
stats somewhat similar to these - but not as complete and not as well-
formatted - in another group once, and I would welcome them in certain
other high-traffic groups I'm subscribed to.

On account of alt.os.linux.mandriva however, it would indeed appear that
traffic here is getting fewer and fewer by the week. I believe this may
be the result of two main factors, i.e. ...

° The creation of the Mageia distribution, along with its own
dedicated newsgroup alt.os.linux.mageia, coupled to the success of
both said distribution and said newsgroup, in comparison to this
group here and the Mandriva distribution. Most of the Mageia
adopters used to be Mandriva users - some still use both
distributions - and as such, there has been quite a move of group
regulars from this group to alt.os.linux.mageia. Apparently, most
of them aren't even looking back anymore, which has left this group
    here somewhat devastated.

° The untimely departure of our friend Adam, who kept the "off-topic"
thread going together with "Moe Trin" and a few other posters, such
    as "TJ" and Jim Beard.

It is entirely up to you if you wish to stop compiling the stats for
this newsgroup, of course, and if you do (but even if you don't) then I
would like to thank you on behalf of the group - I think I can safely
speak for them all in this event - for having bothered to support the
stats for so many years after Garry left off. It is indeed a sad thing
that this group, once so active, has whithered away, but it is therefore
also a bid ludicrous to continue to post stats when nobody is actually
saying anything anymore and when even a spammer makes it into the Top 3.
