I use "rpm -qa " a lot to see what I have       installed. In this case I don't have the md 2010 up and running anymore       since the old motherboard broke down with a transistor on the board       burnt. Didn't have time to fix and it is old so I bought a new board.       All I have is the hard drives (old PATA drives) containing the root       partitions so I can only look in files. The names don't need to match       exactly since I'm going to go through the package installation manually       (after doing a full automated system upgrade as suggested by Bit Twister       earlier).       Haven't tried it yet but I have an PATA-to-USB adapter that hopefully will       get my old root partition readable in Mageia. All data, of course I have       backed up to other media but not the /var partition.              I rarely do system upgrades (judging from the fact that I was still       running md 2010 until now) so it's OK do go through the package       installation manually. Some highly customizable software such as mplayer       I prefer to build myself from source rather than install from distribution       but all standard utilities I install from urpmi. I think I had installed       several 100 packages in my MD 2010 environment.              Regards,              /Karl              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
