   Hopefully you will be installing updates. You should keep an eye on
   the end of support date for any given release.

   Ok, whatever floats your boat, but I suggest leaving that activity as
   a last resort. Especially mplayer. I seem to hit lots of codec gotchas
   when surfing. Solution was to install
   smplayer, gecko-mediaplayer, and mplayerplugin rpms.

   I hear that.
   $ grep urpmi *install* | wc -l
   361

   Like you I had a list of rpms, example; codec rpms.

   With each New release package name changes and whatnot, I finally went
   with locating an upper level rpm which automagically pulled in the low
   level rpm I wanted.

   From what you have said so far, looks like you will be getting pretty
   familiar with the "urpmq" command.
