From: grimble@nospamthanx.net              Could I have some advice please?       Despite what it says below, this machine would normally be running       kernel 2.6.39.4-5.1-desktop, which is the latest installed kernel.       I had to reboot this machine, and it stopped after the following messages:       GRUB loading       Welcome to GRUB!       error file /grub2/i386-pc/normal.mod not found       grub-rescue.....              Grub2 is not installed on this machine.              I got the machine running using SystemRescue 3.8.1, which explains the       different kernel. Do I now recreate initrd-2.6.39.4-5.1-desktop.img? Why       should grub2 be invoked?       Thanks (and best wishes for 2014 to all readers)       --       Grimble       Registered Linux User #450547       Running KDE 4.6.5 on 3.4.66-std381-amd64 kernel.       Mandriva Linux release 2011.0 (Official) for i586              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
