   Sounds like a question for the alt.os.linux.mageia group instead of   
   alt.os.linux.mandriva.   
      
   I just checked Mageia Release 3 and 4 and both required root password from the   
   mcc terminal and launch from the task bar.   
      
   You might run the "groups" command and see what other groups your user   
   account contains. Or maybe you set root's password same as user's pw.  :)   
      
   Then again my installs are Mageia-?-x86_64-DVD.iso install.
