   You appear to be differentiating between Mandriva Control Center and   
   Mageia Control Centre-- note the spelling of the last word. Is this the   
   significant difference or is it the Mandriva/Mageia? what command do you   
   issue to start that? mcc in both cases?   
   Certainly in Mageia 3 on my system, mcc asks for the root password.
