   You probably want a LongTime Support version of a major distribution.   
   I use Mint13 (named Maya), which is supported until 2017, Mint 17.1 is   
   later (supported until 2019) but the Xfce version hasn't been released   
   yet. There is a Mint 17 named Qiana which has Xfce.
