From: bliss-sf4ever@dslextreme.com               Hi former users of Mandriva,               Mageia 5 got high marks in Distrowatch weekly recently.       It is more like Mandriva at this point than any other distribution.       It does have full support for UEFI installs but does not support the       secure boot.        Some long time users are having a multitude of problems       though as you can read in the Usenet newsgroup.               We are still waiting for Texstar to get the U/EFI adaptation for       PC-LOS finished and out for download. In April he       said it was taking a long time.        I used PCLOS when I gave up on Mandriva 2010.2 which was       quite a while after the 2011 failed to work on my notebook of the       time. When I had to get a new notebook due to physical failure       of my older one, i had to change to Mageia 4.1 which supported       UEFI and GPT.               Open Mandriva has abandoned the KDE Desktop Manager       which is sad I think but then Plasma 5 is not yet ready for prime time.       But OM seems to support UEFI but since I don't care for the DM I       have never bothered to install to my hard drive.               bliss              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
