   lame is in the twolame package, but it may not work as a plugin.  You can   
   install all the codecs by installing the metapackage task-codec-audio.   
      
   Mageia's equivalent to PLF is the Tainted repository.  It is disabled by   
   default.  Enable it by checking its box.  There may be a more comprehensive   
   version of mplayer there.  If you then disable the Tainted repo, you can   
   still have updates. If you leave it enabled, its packages will update every   
   installed free version possible.   
      
   I find that RPMs for PCLinux will usually install in Mageia.  You can   
   download them from rpm.pbone.net
