XPost: alt.os.linux.mandrake, alt.os.linux.pclinuxos       From: bliss@mouse-potato.com               Hi readers and typers,               Well it has been an interesting few hours.        I tried to install from the DVD boot up menu after running it live and       making sure I could set it up as I prefer.        I gave the / a bit more than 25 Gigabyte and exactly 25 for the       /home. First the install could not find the grub.cfg so I rebooted and       got PCLinuxOS64 2016.03 running then ran Grub-Customizer to get the       Open Mandriva booted up. It is not very secure as it uses the right       name of the user to take care of login, printing it on the screen above       the password requester.        It seems to have abandoned the familiar themes and        other types of stuff that we are used to using. Fonts come up short       and the ability to adjust all the fonts at once is lacking and is sorely       missed.        No clear cut System Setting but will try to see if it can       be downloaded as the Open Box setting is not up to the task.        Windows have no horizontal resize. vertical resize works better       but that is discouraging.               Games seem to be adventure only, no board games or patience.                All version of the software are claimed to be up-to-date in the Welcome       Window, but they are not. No Virtual Box nor LibreOffice       updater.        Well it runs halfway well.        The Einsteinium installer is not too good and makes it harder       than needed since good installers are all over the Mandriva forks.        The Software tool in MCC is tired next to Synaptic.        The repositories apparently have all the parts for KDE or Gnome.               Maybe with more time in the future I can find better tools for       the work. I will update these notes when I have the time.               bliss              --       bliss dash SF 4 ever at dslextreme dot com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
